Shipping
What is your lead time and shipping charges for domestic orders in India?
Once you place an order with us, we reach out to you to confirm your measurements. At Alternative, each outfit is thoughtfully made to order to ensure that you get the perfect fit and to avoid overproduction. Our standard production timeline is 10 business days from the date of confirming your measurements. We provide FREE shipping in India.
What is your lead time and shipping charges for international orders?
For international orders too, production takes 10 business days once you confirm your measurements and delivery takes another 5-7 business days. Shipping charges range between ₹1000-₹2500 depending on your location.
Are duties and taxes included in the price for international orders?
No. Duties and taxes vary by country and are not included in our product or shipping charges. You will be required to pay any applicable duties and taxes directly to the shipping carrier (e.g., FedEx, UPS) at the time of delivery, after receiving an invoice from them.
If duties and taxes are not paid and the shipment is refused or returned, Alternative will not issue a refund, exchange, or store credit for the order.
I need an expedited delivery. Is that possible?
Yes, we do take requests for expedited delivery. We recommend reaching out to us support@joinalternative.com before placing your order to confirm feasibility and timelines.
Which courier partners do you work with?
Typically, we partner with Tirupati Couriers for domestic orders and Fedex or DHL for international orders.
How can I track my order?
Once you’ve placed your order, you’ll receive an email confirmation from us at the email address you provided within 30 mins. If you don’t see it in your primary inbox, please check your span or junk folders. You’ll also receive a shipping update email once your order is shipped so you can track your package right to your door.
Returns & Exchange
What is your return & exchange policy?
While we strive to make you happy with our products, in case you are not completely satisfied with them, please drop us a mail at support@joinalternative.com and we will get back to you.
Since all our items are made to order, we can only accept exchanges and not refunds. The products bought from our website will only be accepted for exchange or replacement within 3 days of delivery and if they are in perfect condition with no damage or stains. Exchange will only be made for products of equal price value or more.
Returns or exchanges will not be valid on sale or discounted items.
The cost of couriering the product to our warehouse shall be borne by the customer. We will bear the expense of shipping the new product to you.
What if my item arrives damaged or defective?
We take great care in quality checks. If you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact us at support@joinalternative.com within 48 hours of delivery, with photos, and we’ll assist you right away.
Payment
What payment modes do you offer?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, UPI, and bank transfers. All transactions are securely processed through our payment gateway Razorpay.
My payment is not going through and I’m unable to complete my purchase.

Customisation
Do you offer custom sizing?
Absolutely. While we have a standard size chart, we acknowledge that each body is unique and cannot be limited to standard European size charts. That’s why, once you place an order with us, we reach out to you to get your measurements so that we can craft your outfit to your perfect, tailored fit.
Can you customize my outfit?
While we do not take custom design or pattern requests, we offer thoughtful customization options such as adding/removing sleeves, adjusting the length or crafting one of our designs in another fabric that we offer. If you have any customization requests, simply mention it in the notes section of your order or email us at support@joinalternative.com and we’ll be happy to confirm the possibilities.

How is Alternative sustainable?
At Alternative, we work every day to being an actual, authentic sustainable brand and not just being a buzzword. That’s why, we only work with organic, indigenous, and low-impact fabrics such as handwoven kala cotton, organic cotton, organic hemp, ahimsa silk, handwoven khadi and more. Our dyeing techniques include natural dyeing, eco-printing and azo-free dyes, and we collaborate with artisan-led clusters across India. By using organic fabrics, producing in small batches and making designs that are evergreen, Alternative offers clothing that’s kind to the planet, thoughtful in process, and made to be worn and loved for years to come.
Who makes my clothes?
Your garments are handcrafted by skilled artisans and makers across India, many working in family-run or cluster-based workshops that preserve traditional weaving and dyeing techniques.
Will the clothes look exactly like the website images?
The clothes look even better in person than on screen as per our customers :) Our fabrics are hand-dyed and often created using artisan techniques like eco-printing, splash dye, and handloom weaving in small batches. This means that while your order will look extremely similar to what you see on screen, no two pieces are exactly identical. Each garment is one-of-a-kind, with the slightest natural variations in shade, or print placement.
Are these slight variations considered defects?
Not at all. Natural irregularities in shade, texture, or print placement are a hallmark of handcrafted and artisan-made clothing. They are signs of authenticity and care, not flaws.
How can I make my garment last longer?
Store away from direct sunlight, wash gently in cold water, avoid harsh detergents and dry in shade. Following these steps will help preserve the natural colour and texture.
